Child Safety

Ensuring the safety of children is fundamental to the mission of Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley.

Sports & Recreation

Sports & Recreation programs help develop physical fitness, reduce stress and promote a positive use of leisure time, appreciation for the environment and interpersonal skills.  

Sports: The Club provides basketball and flag football leagues as well as drop-in soccer, floor hockey, volleyball, dodgeball, handball, and golf programs with an emphasis on teamwork, fairplay, and sportsmanship.  Recreational activities such as pool, ping pong, board games, outdoor games, and tournaments provide positive fun outlets for youth while teaching skills, confidence, and fairplay.

80% of Club alumni said the Club had a positive impact on their attitude toward fitness and health.  According to a Harris study.

Triple Play is a comprehensive health and wellness program.  It strives to improve the overall health of Club members of all ages by increasing daily physical activity, teaching them about good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships.

Triple Play is supported by grants from Kaiser Permanente, LA 84, and AEROCares

Education programs are supported by Southern California Edison, DrinkPAK, ESCO Technologies, Boston Scientific, Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation, ZONTA of Santa Clarita, Ross Stores, Panda Cares Foundation, Woodward Charitable Trust, and Buffalo Wild Wings

Education: Developing Globally Competitive Graduates

Education programs are designed to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.

Power Hour: Homework Time

Power Hour: Making Minute Count provides Club professionals with the strategies, activities, resources and information to create an engaging homework help and tutoring program that encourages Club members of every age to become self-directed learners.

DIY STEM & Robotics

DIY STEM is a hands-on, activity-based STEM curriculum which connects youth to science themes they encounter regularly.  Robotics is a fun and engaging project based learning program for youth of various ages.

Project Learn

Project Learn reinforces the academic enrichment and school engagement of young people during the time they spend at the Club.

Participants in the Project Learn program reported 87% fewer missed school days compared with non-Club youth.  2018 National Youth Outcomes Report

The Arts

The Arts, programs are designed to foster creativity in young people, and give them outlets for self-expression.  From photography to hip-hop, our arts programs have something that will inspire everyone.

76% of low-income Club members ages 12-18 reported earning mostly As and Bs compared to 67% of their peers nationally. According to 2018 BGCA youth outcome data and 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health data.

National Fine Arts Exhibit

This year-round program encourages artistic expression among Club members ages 6 to 18 through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture with the opportunity to be displayed at local and regional exhibits.

Health & Wellness

Health & Wellness programs are supported by Los Angeles County 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

Health & Wellness programs develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors to nurture their well-being, set personal goals and grow into self-sufficient adults.

41% of twelfth grade Club girls participate in daily physical activity, compared with 29% of twelfth grade girls nationally.  According to BGCA youth outcome data.

Passport to Manhood for ages 11-14.  Passport to Manhood teaches responsibility to boys ages 11 to 14 with sessions that focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood through highly interactive activities.

SMART Moves for ages 6-15.  SMART Moves is a prevention and education program addressing problems such as drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity.  

SMART Girls for Ages 8-17.  SMART Girls provides health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement for girls ages 8 to 17.

Healthy Habits for ages 6-15.  Healthy Habits emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improved overall well-being.

Workforce Readiness

Workforce Readiness Empowering Young People to Succeed.  To help young people meet the workforce challenges of tomorrow, they need safe spaces, positive mentorship and work experiences today.  At Boys & Girls Clubs, we allow kids and teens to:

  • Explore their interests and passions
  • Develop their employability skills
  • Apply their knowledge to real-world work experience

Leveling the Playing Field.  Millions of young people face an uncertain future and competitive job market.  Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley helps young people stay on track in the midst of change.  

What We Do.  From an early age through high school, supportive Club mentors provide opportunities to explore careers and prepare youth with employability skills for future success.  The Club also connects teens to real-life work experiences such as internships and apprenticeships.

Career Launch

Ages 13-18.  CareerLaunch prepares teens for the world of careers and work.  Through CareerLaunch, Club teens 13-18 years old embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.

Workforce Readiness is supported by a ten year commitment from Premier America Foundation, with a focus on Financial Literacy.

Character & Leadership

Leaders in Training is supported by grants from Pacific Youth Foundation, SoCal Gas, and Citizen’s Business Bank.

Keystone is supported by contributions from FivePoint, Taste of India, and Salt Creek Grille

Character & Leadership programs help youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills to participate in the democratic process.  Program participants also develop leadership skills and gain opportunities for planning, decision-making, contributing to Club and community and celebrating our national heritage.

89% of Club youth said they can stand up for what is right; 91% of Club youth reported that as a leader, they make sure everyone feels important. According to BGCA youth outcome data.

Leaders in Training for ages 13-15.  Leaders in Training is a small-group leadership and service club for youth 13-15.  Leaders in Training is a powerful vehicle that helps Club staff meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their life.  

Keystone for ages 14-18.  Keystoning, our Mentors in Training program,  is the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s ultimate teen program for youth ages 14 to 18.  This unique program provides leadership development opportunities for youth to participate in activities, career preparation and community service.  With the guidance of an adult advisor, Keystone Club aims to positively impact teens, their Club and Santa Clarita Valley.

Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program.  It is our signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated world economy.
