This month we catch up with one of our outstanding alumni, Darren Young. Darren, who was named the Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year in 2008, has gone on to accomplish great things in his personal and professional life.
After leaving Santa Clarita, Darren moved to St. Louis, where he currently resides with his wife Charlene and their two children. He is the director of a youth-serving non-profit organization, where he continues to positively impact the lives of young people in his community. In addition, he and Charlene started their own Filipino BBQ business called Fatted Calf, which has become a popular spot for foodies in St. Louis. If you’re in the mid-west, you might spot their food on the local grocery store shelves.
Darren attributes much of his success to the skills and confidence he developed during his time at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley. The Club provided him with a safe and supportive environment to learn and grow, and he credits the staff and programs with helping him to become the person he is today.
Darren’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of the Boys & Girls Club, and we are proud to have played a role in his success. We hope that his story will inspire and motivate our current members to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact on the world around them.
